1 Secret John Wayne Taught Ron Howard About Making Movies – My Blog

Although they were celebrities for different reasons, Ron Howard worked with John Wayne on one of The Duke’s late-period movies. Howard said Wayne gave him some interesting advice. In addition, Howard revealed what made Wayne a little different from other actors.

What John Wayne taught Ron Howard about ‘manhood’
As an actor, Howard is most known for his appearing in the sitcoms The Andy Griffith Show and Happy Days as well as George Lucas’ American Graffiti. However, he also appeared in Wayne’s final Western, The Shootist.  The film also included James Stewart, Lauren Bacall, and John Carridine. With that cast, the film was almost like a roll call of Old Hollywood actors. Howard’s appearance in the film almost feels like a passing of the torch from one generation to the next.

In an interview with Men’s Journal, Sean Woods asked Howard if working with Wayne and Stewart taught him anything about manhood. “John Wayne used a phrase, which he later attributed to [film director] John Ford, for scenes that were going to be difficult: ‘This is a job of work,’ he’d say,” Howard recalled. “If there was a common thread with these folks – Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Glenn Ford – it was the work ethic. It was still driving them. To cheat the project was an insult. To cheat the audience was damnable.”

What Ron Howard said John Wayne, Bette Davis, and Jimmy Stewart had in common
In a separate interview with the HuffPost, Howard also praised Wayne’s work ethic. “I always admired him as a movie star, but I thought of him as a total naturalist,” Howard said. “Even those pauses were probably him forgetting his line and then remembering it again, because, man, he’s The Duke. But he’s working on this scene and he’s like, ‘Let me try this again.’ And he put the little hitch in and he’d find the Wayne rhythm, and you’d realize that it changed the performance each and every time. I’ve worked with Bette Davis, John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Henry Fonda. Here’s the thing they all have in common: They all, even in their 70s, worked a little harder than everyone else.”
How critics and audiences responded to ‘The Shootist’
Howard obviously admired Wayne’s methods as an actor. This raises an interesting question: Did the public embrace The Shootist? According to Box Office Mojo, the film earned over $8 million. That’s not a huge haul for a film from 1976. However, the film is widely regarded as a classic among 1970s Westerns.

Howard even received a Golden Globe nomination for his role in the film. The other nominees were Laurence Olivier for Marathon Man, Marty Feldman for Silent Movie, Jason Robards for All the President’s Men, and Oskar Werner for Voyage of the Damned. Oliver won the award. While Howard didn’t earn a Golden Globe for working with Wayne, he learned an important lesson about filmmaking.

Why Should You Place Your Luggage in the Bathroom Right After Checking into a Hotel Room?

When you check into a hotel, experts recommend putting your suitcase in the bathtub, not on the bed or luggage rack. This advice may seem strange, but it’s due to creepy-crawly bugs that can be found on surfaces like beds. The bathtub is considered a safer spot to avoid these pests while you settle in.

Why should you put your luggage in the bathtub?

We’ve got one word for you: bedbugs. Bedbugs are notorious for hitching a ride to your next destination (like your house!) on your clothes and even your bags. If you put your luggage in the bathtub of your hotel room instead of on the bed, you will ensure that those pesky pests stay far away from your personal belongings while you take the time to inspect your room.

Entomologist Katelyn Kesheimer, PhD, advises keeping luggage in the bathroom while checking for bedbugs, especially in hotel rooms. After confirming the room is clear of them, she moves her luggage into the main area but avoids placing it on the bed. Travel expert Marla Cimini also emphasizes that bedbug problems are common across hotels, from luxury to budget, with Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia ranked as the top U.S. cities for bedbug infestations, according to a 2024 Orkin study.

Why is the bathroom a safe place for luggage?

According to Katelyn Kesheimer, PhD, bathrooms are the least likely places to find bedbugs because people spend less time there compared to other areas in the hotel room. Additionally, bathrooms have fewer hiding spots for bedbugs, and towels and bathmats are regularly cleaned between guests, disrupting potential hiding places. Bedbugs also prefer natural surfaces, and tubs and tiles don’t offer these conditions, making the bathroom a safer spot for your luggage.

What should you do if there’s no tub in your hotel bathroom?

Setting your luggage in the shower stall is a perfectly suitable alternative to the bathtub. Just remember to take it out before you turn on the shower!

How to check for bedbugs on the bed

Here’s how to conduct a quick yet thorough search:

Fold the top sheet all the way back, and inspect the top of the bottom sheet.
Untuck the bottom sheet from the sides and corners, and look for evidence in the folds.
Look in the seams of the mattress, along any zippers and in the tufts on the mattress top.
Slide the mattress aside, and inspect the box spring.
Check the headboard, especially if it’s tufted or made of fabric. Look behind the headboard and on the wall behind the bed.

The Misunderstanding That Ended a Marriage: A Lesson in Perception and Trust…

It all started innocently enough—one ordinary day, I sent my husband a picture of myself standing in a hockey stadium. I had just attended my first hockey game, and it had quickly become my new favorite sport. The excitement was palpable, and I wanted to share it with him.

But little did I know, what I thought was a harmless photo would set off a chain of events that would change everything.

When my husband received the picture, I thought nothing of it. I figured he would appreciate it and maybe laugh at my newfound enthusiasm for hockey. However, instead of a simple “cool” or “how’s the game?” I got a message that caught me completely off guard: “I want a divorce.”

At first, I thought he was joking. He was always the playful type, and it seemed like the kind of exaggerated reaction he might make over something trivial. But when he called, his voice was filled with anger, and his words were sharp.

“How long has this been going on?” he demanded.

I was taken aback. “What are you talking about?” I asked, completely confused.

“The shadow!” he snapped, his voice rising. “On your back. Don’t lie to me.”

I took another look at the photo, and that’s when I saw it. The shadow behind me, cast by the bright stadium lights, appeared to form the image of a man standing closely behind me, his hands seemingly resting on my waist. The illusion was uncanny. To anyone who didn’t know the full story, it could look like something suspicious.

“That’s just a shadow,” I tried to explain, feeling a knot form in my stomach. But no amount of reasoning could convince him. The shadow had tricked him into thinking there was another person, someone far too close for comfort. The image had planted seeds of doubt, and no matter how much I explained it was nothing more than an optical illusion, the damage was done.

In his mind, the trust had been broken. He believed the worst, and that perception was now too powerful to ignore. He began questioning everything between us, and suddenly, our relationship was fractured beyond repair.

Virgin OnlyFans star who made $43 million gets ‘seven-figure offers’ to film her first time

An OnlyFans star who raked in a whopping $43 million in a year despite being a virgin has revealed the crazy offers she’s had to film her first time.

Sophie Rain, 20, made headlines after her incredible earnings were revealed and she opened up about being a devout Christian.

As her faith is important to her, Rain revealed that despite making a killing on the spicy subscription platform, she has never had sex.

Now, she’s been approached by multiple companies offering her sums in the millions for her to lose her virginity on camera.

Rain told fellow content creator Camilla Araújo in a TikTok video: “Multiple companies actually offered me seven figures to take my V-card.”

She said that her answer to them was “no” despite the huge amount of cash on the table.

The Florida native told her friend: “No, why would I do that?”, to which Araújo joked that they should hire her instead, while it may not be a “V-card but more like a 13th card”.

While Rain did not divulge which companies had reached out to her with offers, TMZ reported that she’d received a lucrative offer from OnlyFans’ rival site Fansly.

Adult streaming site CamSoda also previously offered Rain $250,000 to host a “virginal show” on their platform with vide-president Daryn Parker saying in a statement via the Daily Mail: “Your debut would be a masterclass in proving that you don’t need to go all the way to make people go all in.

“Plus, let’s be honest — who wouldn’t want to see what the most lucrative virgin in the game has to say?”

Parker added that he was moved by Rain’s come-up fro growing up on food stamps to becoming a multi-millionaire and paying off her parents’ debts without having to go all the way.

Rain, who is one of the top earners on OnlyFans, left people stunned after she revealed her earnings for the year were $43million – with one of her biggest fans having spent $4.7million on her content in less than 12 months.

While many other creators such as Lily Phillips and Bonnie Blue have made headlines with their extreme sexual antics, Rain has maintained that she is a devout Christian who attended church every Sunday with her family.

She previously told YouTuber Kowski in an interview: “I’m a virgin. I’m a virgin ’til this day.

“I’m a Christian. I know it seems odd that I’m doing [OnlyFans], but I don’t do anything else with anyone on my OnlyFans. It’s just me.”

And given that she’s making an absolute fortune off her content already, something tells us she’s not going to be accepting those offers to lose her virginity on camera anytime soon.
