Liam Payne’s cause of death has been confirmed as ‘polytrauma’.
Payne tragically died on October 16 after falling from the third floor of a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He had been in the country to support his former bandmate Niall Horan during his worldwide tour. Five people were charged. Among those are a hotel employee and a waiter, both accused of providing Payne with cocaine. Allegations indicate that the employee supplied the drug twice, including on the day of Payne’s death, while the waiter is suspected of doing so on two occasions on October 14.A chief receptionist is facing manslaughter charges after reportedly instructing three individuals to “drag” Payne to his hotel room. Tragically, he later fell from the balcony. Similarly, a hotel manager is also charged with manslaughter, with court documents describing the balcony as a “serious threat” and claiming the manager should have ensured Payne was taken to a safe location while awaiting medical assistance.Additionally, a friend of Payne has been charged with manslaughter for allegedly failing to provide adequate care. According to accusations, the friend “abandoned him to his luck knowing that he was incapable of fending for himself and knowing that [Payne] suffered from multiple addictions.”Judge Laura Bruniard, who is overseeing the case, stated that she does not believe the individuals charged with manslaughter deliberately “planned or wanted the death of Payne.” However, she emphasized that their alleged actions had created a “risk” to his life.A toxicology report released in November revealed that Payne’s blood contained a combination of cocaine, alcohol, and antidepressants at the time of his death. The singer’s cause of death has now been confirmed as ‘polytrauma’, a medical term that describes a person who has sustained multiple traumatic injuires to their body or organs. Dr Roberto Victor Cohen has confirmed this was Payne’s cause of death. Payne’s passing garnered international attention due to his fame as a former member of One Direction. His former bandmates—Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson—issued a joint statement expressing their heartbreak.“We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing… For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us,” they said. “We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam.”The group, along with Simon Cowell and Payne’s ex-partner Cheryl Tweedy, attended his funeral. Payne is survived by his seven-year-old son, Bear, whom he shared with Cheryl. In a heartfelt statement on Instagram, Cheryl expressed her grief, writing:“As I try to navigate this earth-shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I’d like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being.“Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our 7-year-old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again.“What is troubling my spirit the most is that one day Bear will have access to the abhorrent reports and media exploitation we have seen in the past two days.“It is breaking my heart further that I cannot protect him from that in his future.”RIP.
