Dog severely injured after being set on fire by owner

It’s truly unbelievable how cruel some people can be towards animals, but thankfully there are also kind people in the world willing to step up and give these poor creatures the love and care they deserve.

That’s the story of one dog, who was left gravely injured after being set on fire, but is now making a steady recovery thanks to an animal rescue.

(Warning: story contains some graphic photos.)

On February 7th, 2024, a woman in Nixon, Texas found a dog on her front porch, crying in pain, according to KENS 5. The poor puppy, later named Phoenix, had endured an unimaginable nightmare.

Tied up, shoved into a backpack, she was set on fire by someone who showed her nothing but cruelty.

She was taken in by the San Antonio-based rescue 4 Little Paws, who got her emergency medical care. ”She has open wounds that appear to be consistent with being in a kennel and breaking out to get away from the pain of burning,” 4 Little Paws Rescue wrote, adding that they could still smell the accelerant on her.

”Currently she is burnt over most of her body her nose being the most obvious but as the skin falls off she will be susceptible to infection and dehydration from the trauma. Despite all of this she has a gentle nature and still trusts humans.”

”My heart just broke. It was heart wrenching to see her,” Ashley Book, the rescue’s medical director, told KENS 5.

”She smelled so horrific of fire, her skin was rock hard. It almost appeared melted, but the swelling was what was most evident on her face.”

The dog lost most of her fur and her ears had to be amputated due to the burn damage. Even after enduring so much pain and going through so many surgeries, she never gave up. The rescue named her “Phoenix,” after the mythical bird who burns but rises again from the ashes.

“I initially didn’t think she was going to make it, and this is going to be extremely costly,” Book told KENS 5 in October.

Over the year, 4 Little Paws has continued to post updates about Phoenix’s progress. Though the photos can be graphic, they said her appearance would ”get worse before it gets better.”

Phoenix’s story touched people’s hearts, and many donated to help her recovery: a GoFundMe page has raised over $63,000 to pay for her treatments. Overall, the community collected over $112,000 to cover Phoenix’s treatment and recovery.

The dog received surgeries and skin grafts allowing her skin to grow back, her kidney functions have stabilized, and her pain is under control.

Today, she has recovered enough that she was allowed out of the hospital to stay with Ashley Book, who eventually adopted her.

”I pretty much think I’m going to be her future mom. She’s captured everybody’s hearts, and, least of not was mine,” Book said back in February.

Since her rescue, Phoenix has been recovering under the loving care of her new adoptive mother, Ashley Book. While her recovery has surpassed expectations, there remains a lingering concern in Book’s mind.

For far too long, there was uncertainty, but now, justice has finally been served. The individual responsible for this horrifying act has pled guilty to numerous charges, including the abuse inflicted upon Phoenix. Michael Villanueva
received the maximum sentence of 20 years, with the possibility of parole in 4 to 5 years.

While this can’t undo the pain Phoenix endured, it brings a glimmer of hope that justice will prevail. Let us all continue to pray that this serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting those who cannot protect themselves.

It’s horrifying that anyone would set an innocent dog on fire, but we’re glad Phoenix has risen from the ashes and is on the road to recovery ❤️

Please keep this beautiful dog in your thoughts, and please share this story to spread the word.

Joe Rogan Stunned As Mel Gibson Reveals How Three Of His Friends All Cured Stage 4 Cancers

Joe Rogan was left stunned as Mel Gibson revealed how three of his friends were all cured of stage cancer.

On his latest episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Mel Gibson claimed three of his friends all had stage four cancer, and what he has described as ‘some serious stuff going on.’The actor claimed they took ivermectin and fenbendazole – drugs that are used to treat infections such as roundworms and threadworms. He then said, after taking them, ‘they don’t have cancer right now.’‘This stuff works, man,’ he added. Some research suggests that fenbendazole can stop the growth of cancer cells – however, experts have said that despite early research looking good, there are some serious side effects.Gibson said: ‘I don’t believe that there is anything that can afflict mankind that hasn’t got a natural cure for it. It just makes sense to me. ‘I couldn’t prove that, but I just believe that. There’s got to be something that cures things.’Referring to both drugs mentioned, Rogan added: ‘This stuff does work, which is strange because it’s not profit.’Rogan added: ‘When you hear about things that are demonized and they turn out to be effective, you always wonder, “What is going on here? How have our medical institutions failed us so that things that do cure you are not promoted because they’re not profitable?”‘Dr Susanne Arnold, associate director for clinical translation at the Markey Cancer Center in Kentucky, told The Associated Press in 2024 that while yes, there have been pre-clinical studies exploring ivermectin and similar drugs that could slow cancer cell growth in labs, this isn’t the same as proving that the drugs would work in humans. She said: ‘I know of no reports of clinical trials that yielded successful results in humans with cancer.’

Pet Owner Returns Home After LA Fires And Is Left In Tears At What He Finds

Casey Colvin returned home after the LA fires ravaged his home and was left in tears with what he found.

It is now day seven since over 180,000 people had to abandon their homes in search of safety following the wildfires ravaging LA. The flames have destroyed thousands of acres of lands and thousands of buildings and homes. At least 24 people have sadly been confirmed dead due to the fires while many more are missing and unaccounted for. Governor Gavin Newsom decalred it ‘one of the worst natural natural disasters in US history’.Firefighters have warned that the disaster is still very active, with fires Palisade, Easton and Hurst still actively ravaging the countryside. Amongst the heartbreak, there have been some touching moments being shared online including a video about pet owner Casey Colvin. He was anxious to get home to track down his two dogs, after having evacuated the Palisades. The resident had not been at home when they were asked to evacuate the area but his two dogs, Oreo and Tika Tika Tika were. Speaking to NBC News, the man said: “I literally rescued them [the dogs] off the street, they deserve better than this. How do I get to my house?!”In a social media post shared by the network, the man explained that a firefighter saw his distress and ‘came to help’ – entering his home to find his pets. “At that time, Casey’s home had not burned and shortly after, the firefighter returned to the staging area with Tika Tika Tika,” the journalist said.“At that time, Casey’s home had not burned and shortly after, the firefighter returned to the staging area with Tika Tika Tika,”.“We were there as Casey reunited with his sweet girl,” she added. “But Oreo, a rescue who Casey says is behavioural, apparently ran out of the house and is now missing.”Only hours later, Colvin’s home was ‘burned to the ground’ and had it not been for the heroic firefighter – both of his dogs would have been ‘trapped inside’. Then, after five heartbreaking days of searching, a stranger spotted Oreo hiding in the rubble and Colvin ran to collect them. In the video that has since gone viral, the man can be heard saying: “Oh my god, you’re alive! You’re alive! Thank you, God,” while running with his dog and fist pumping into the air.One social media user responded “Awwwww such a sweet moment. I’m glad they were able to be reunited.”Another wrote: “I would be right there with this guy, totally losing it and crying my eyes out if it were my dog. So happy for this man and his little pup!”A third agreed: “This could be the one thing that holds someone’s life together after such an immense tragedy. My heart is so full for this man I don’t even know. That dog survived the imaginable and ran straight to dad.”Watch below: https://www.instagram.com/nbcnightlynews/reel/DEyQNR0slxk

Amid the Los Angeles wildfires, the business tycoon shares how the ‘miracle’ property remained completely ‘untouched’

Among the properties that were completely destroyed in the Palisades fire in Los Angeles, there is a $9 million property that remained untouched.

The owner of the house, David Steiner, believes there is an explanation behind the miracle of his property not being affected by the wildfire.

Unfortunately, the fires that rage in LA have burnt over 20,000 acres. So far, first responders have managed to put out three of eight wildfires.

Reports are that over 5,000 buildings, including homes, businesses, and landmarks have also been destroyed.

Authorities believe that the Kenneth fire, that threatens homes near Calabasas and Hidden Hills was set on purpose by a man that has since been arrested. The suspect was detained by the locals until police arrived. He was seen riding a bicycle and carrying a torch, trying to lit garbage cans and old Christmas trees.

Among those who lost their homes are a number of celebrities, among which Anna Faris, Eugene Levy, Paris Hilton, and Billy Crystal.

Tycoon David Steiner is surprised his property remained untouched by the raging flames.

When a local contractor sent him a video from the fire on January 7, Steiner, a retired retired waste-management businessman, was certain his three-story home was doomed, but that’s not what happened.

“[The contractor] was watching the news reports and saw my neighbor’s house going down and told me, ‘It looks like your house is going too’,” Steiner stated to the New York Post.

Soon, people started calling him on the phone, telling him his home was all over the news.

“I started getting pictures and realised we had made it through,” Steiner continued. “My wife sent me something this morning that said, ‘Last house standing’. And it brought a pretty big smile to my face at a pretty bad time.”

He believes that the house survived due to its cruise ship-like construction.

“It has an ‘ultra-sturdy construction’ and was built to withstand earthquakes,” the father of three said.

He explained that “It’s stucco and stone with a fireproof roof,” and boasts pilings ‘like 50 feet into the bedrock’ which keep it steady when strong waves crash in.

“To be totally honest with you, I never in a million years thought a wildfire would jump to the Pacific Coast Highway and start a fire,” Steiner said. “I thought, ‘If we ever have an earthquake, this would be the last thing to go’. I honestly didn’t think that if we had a fire, this would be the last thing to go. And it was.

“The architecture is pretty nice. But the stucco and fireproof roof are real nice.”

When people texted him, saying they were praying for him, Steiner said he’d only lose a property, not his home. He didn’t have family memories there. He says we need to pray for those who have lost their homes.
