Clint Eastwood shared his bed with co-star and was sick of director on ‘dangerous’ Western

CLINT EASTWOOD, who turned 92 this week, has made many classic Westerns during his incredible career, but one saw him become so fed up with the director that they never worked together again, on a film where one of his co-stars ended up being “the only man to sleep with Clint Eastwood”. This other actor was almost poisoned and decapitated on set and complained about the lack of safety around dangerous stunts.

Clint Eastwood is best known for playing The Man with No Name in Sergio Leone’s classic Dollars Trilogy of Spaghetti Westerns, period cowboy movies filmed by Italians. Following A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More, the Hollywood star returned for a third outing that has gone down as one of the best of the genre. The 36-year-old would wear the same poncho he did in the first two films without having it cleaned, but he initially wasn’t happy with the script.

According to Patrick McGilligan’s Clint: The Life and Legend, he told Leone: “In the first film, I was alone. In the second, we were two. Here we are three.

“If it goes on this way, in the next one I will be starring with the American cavalry.”

Eastwood was concerned that “The Ugly” co-star Eli Wallach would upstage him, but ended up accepting the movie with a fee of up to $250,000 with a Ferrari and 10 per cent of the profits in the US.

Both actors then flew out to Madrid together for the shoot, however, they found the hotels were fully booked up.

As a result, The Man with No Name star invited Wallach to sleep at his friend’s house where the two actors ended up sharing the same bed.

The latter’s wife Anne Jackson said upon hear ing this that he could boast to be the only man to sleep with Clint Eastwood.

The Ugly star ended up having a rough time on the film, almost being poisoned after drinking from a bottle of acid that a film technician had put next to his soda bottle.

Wallach wrote in his autobiography that while Leone was an incredible director safety was very lax amid the dangerous stunts they were performing, with his life being threatened a couple more times.

Another was when filming the scene where The Ugly is sat on a horse with a rope around his neck to be hanged.

After a gun is shot, the horse was supposed to bolt but became so scared it ran for a mile with Wallach still having his hands bound. Luckily the noose had severed beforehand.

The third time was when he was chained to a body and had to sever the links on a railroad track as a train went by.

However, the crew and actor were not aware of the heavy iron steps that would jut one foot out of every boxcar. So if he’d stood up at the wrong time he could have been decapitated.

Meanwhile, Eastwood himself was becoming fed up with Leone as a director for all his demands and perfectionism.

The star hated smoking cigars and the filmmaker often insisted on multiple takes, exhausting his actors by shooting the same scenes from many different angles.

Wallach said his co-star would sometimes tell the director: “You’d better get it this time, because I’m going to throw up.”

By the time filming was completed, he’d had enough and the two never worked again, even though the director tried to pursue him for 1968’s Once Upon a Time in the West.

Leone wanted Eastwood to play Harmonica, a role that eventually went to Charles Bronson in that picture.

Years later, when shooting Once Upon a Time in America in the 1980s, Leone had his revenge, comparing him to Robert De Niro in the new movie, he said: “Eastwood moves like a sleepwalker between explosions and hails of bullets, and he is always the same—a block of marble. Bobby first of all is an actor, Clint first of all is a star. Bobby suffers, Clint yawns.”

EXCLUSIVE: Clint Eastwood’s son Scott thanks his dad for REFUSING to help him become an actor

Clint Eastwood’s son says the best thing his dad did for him was NOT to help him into acting.
Scott Eastwood, 31, says Clint , 86, made him pay his way through college and audition for minor roles in his films.
Until five years ago, Scott was juggling work as a bartender in San Diego with rushing to acting try-outs in Los Angeles.
“It was probably the best thing dad could have done for me,” he told the Sunday People .
“He could have made it easy but I wouldn’t have learnt anything from that.”
The drive Clint instilled in Scott has paid off, with young Eastwood starring in this month’s Fast & Furious 8 after parts in last year’s Suicide Squad, Snowden and Live by Night.

Scott, father-of-seven Clint’s son from a relationship with flight attendant Jacelyn Reeves, still lives in San Diego and recalls of his bartending days: “I would work all night, study my lines until three or four in the morning, fall asleep, then get up at 7am and drive to LA.
“I would audition for parts and then drive back down to San Diego to work that night.”
But he didn’t curse his dad for making him struggle. “He grew up during the Depression and he had to work hard for everything, including his early years as an actor,” says Scott.
“He believes you have to earn your way in life and I agree, although there were a lot of times when I would be angry with him because I knew he could have helped me out with money.

“He made me pay my way through college. That was hard. But he knew the best lesson in life that he could teach me was that I had to learn to take care of myself and not expect any favours.”
Scott spent his early days in Hawaii with younger sister Kathryn and their mum Jacelyn, who had them while Clint was living with Sondra Locke, his co-star in The Outlaw Josey Wales.
Scott and Kathryn’s birth certificates read: “Father declined”.
But by 14, Scott had moved to twice-married Clint’s ranch in Northern California, where he threw himself into the outdoor life loved by his father.
“I started riding horses and grew up feeling I was a bit of a cowboy,” laughs Scott, who has been linked to model Adriana Lima and Vampire Diaries film star Nina Dobrev.
“I don’t think I could ever have worked in an office, even if acting hadn’t worked out for me

“Dad has also always stayed very fit and encouraged me to take up running, go to the gym and do weights.
“I do Muay Thai and Jiu-Jitsu. Dad’s philosophy is ‘healthy body, healthy mind’ and it’s important to stay active physically. I believe in that.”
As well as having dad to thank for his physique, Scott also learned to admire an old school way of life from Clint, plus a love of country and blues music.
“I feel as if I absorbed from my father a love for traditional values,” he says. “I like being old school. I hate it when people stare at their phones during dinner and I will always call people rather than send text messages.
“And Mom taught me to be a gentleman. She showed how it was important to respect women and not be afraid to show your sensitive side.”
Scott says he now has a fantastic relationship with Dirty Harry star Clint, who won Oscars for Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby.
He says his dad didn’t care what career he chose, merely wanting him to lead a “responsible life”.
But Clint is now hugely proud of Scott.
“I’m proud Dad has finally got to see me make some good films,” says Scott. “I’m even prouder we’ve been able to become friends and enjoy each other’s company.”
Fast & Furious 8 comes three-and-a-half years after one of the film franchise’s stars, Paul Walker, ԁıеԁ aged 40 in a car crash.

Details have been kept secret of Scott’s character in the new movie, which is out next week and titled The Fate of the Furious. But he is rumoured to play Paul’s younger brother. The role would be fitting because the pair were pals.
Paul even acted as a mentor to Scott in the way an older sibling would.
“Paul was a close friend of mine,” says Scott. “We surfed together, travelled together and he was a massive role model and influencing figure in my life when I was younger.
“He was an older brother to me and for me to be able to add to the Fast and Furious story, Paul’s story, and join the Fast family is like a dream come true.”

Clint Eastwood raised his son in the “Old School” lifestyle, which not all fathers can do.

Clint Eastwood's Son Scott Revealed if He's Ever Disappointed His Father

Back in 2009, the father-son duo even worked together on the film, Invictus, which follows the story of Nelson Mandela in his quest for unifying South Africa and dismantling the nation’s racist divisions. Even though Scott only played a small role in the film that his father directed, it showed potential for the two to continue their on-screen journey together.
Prior to Scott’s budding career in Hollywood, he was a typical teenager that needed structure and stability. And Clint Eastwood was the perfect candidate for that role. In a past interview, Scott detailed what it was like living with his father during his high school years and how it involved who he is today. The two sat down with Esquire in 2016 to discuss their family life as well as their success on screen.

“It’s an interesting time. My father’s definitely old-school,” Scott shared. “And he raised me with integrity—to be places on time, show up, and work hard.” Scott Eastwood Discuss Difference in Clint and Jacelyn Reeves’ Parenting Styles. While his father certainly had a significant influence on his life, Scott wasn’ t always with Clint Eastwood. Before he entered high school, he lived with his mom, Jacelyn Reeves, in Hawaii.
Eastwood and Reeves had Scott out of wedlock and for much of his childhood, he stayed with his mom. That is until she felt he needed a stern male role model in his life.“Yeah, I lived with my mom in Hawaii until I pissed her off. And then I came to live with my dad and pissed him off,” Scott joked. But Clint Eastwood denied this claim. Instead, he boasted about Scott’s good “values” from a young age and credited his son’s mother for it.
“He was a pretty good kid. Not much of a problem,” shared Clint Eastwood. His mother gave him a lot of values, because she’s a good person.” Scott concurred that his mother was a positive influence in his life, noting that she tended to be “more understanding” than his famous father.

Meanwhile, there were times at the Eastwood household where Scott really feared breaking his dad’s rules. But of course, Clint Eastwood’s strict exterior was just a part of the tough love act that Scott needed at the time.
