That was one of the low points of my life, what a butt-kicking I got! I still have a broken finger from trying to block a penalty by Pele – My Blog

Alfie tough guy Michael Caine dealt a swift KO to cocky Sylvester Stallone during Escape To Victory. The film shoot left the Rocky star with broken ribs and a dislocated shoulder while a starstruck Caine admitted he only took the part to work with his football idol.

A betting person might give better odds to the American star in the ring, but when it came to on set behaviour, the Brit swiftly put his co-star in his place. In fact, Stallone found the whole shoot eye-opening and physically brutal and later admitted he’d arrogantly had no idea what he was getting into. His demand that his character score the winning goal despite being a goalkeeper certainly did not go down well and was immediately dismissed. The actor had publicly declared he had thought football was a “sissy sport” – until it put him in hospital following some brutal encounters on set, including with the late and very great Brazilian legend Pele that left him with a broken finger.
The basic premise of Escape To Victory, which is back on TV screens today, had the Rocky star playing a Second World War Allied Prisoner of War. He becomes the goalkeeper on a team of imprisoned professional football players. They plan to make a daring escape during a Nazi propaganda match against a German team staged in Paris.
The film hit headlines because it included an extraordinary array of famous footie players from Pele and Bobby Moore, plus Osvaldo Ardiles and numerous teammates from Ipswich Town, which was one of the biggest teams in Europe at the time.

Despite all the hype and the world-famous players involved, Stallone admitted he swaggered on to set and didn’t even bother to warm up before he started his first scenes in goal. Various broken bones would follow.
The muscle-bound actor has often publicly revealed how he pushes himself to extremes on set, including egging on Dolph Lundgren to hit him harder during 1985’s Rocky IV. On that occasion, he was hospitalised and says the nursing staff feared for his life.
During an interview to promote Victory, Stallone said: “I thought Rocky was tough, but I’ve never trained so hard. I thought soccer was a sissy sport until they kicked the ball into my stomach and I crossed the border into Austria with haematomas on both hips.”
In the first few days filming the football scenes for the film, the actor suffered a broken rib and dislocated shoulder. Another broken rib would follow and then a broken finger thanks to Brazilian legend Pele.
Stallone told the BBC: “That was one of the low points of my life. What a butt-kicking I got! I still have a broken finger from trying to block a penalty by Pele.
“He put on a pair of World War II shoes, which were steel-tipped, and the ball was like a cannonball – it was twice as thick and heavy as footballs are today… He was telling me he was going to take a shot and I thought ‘It’s soccer, what’s the big deal? It’s easy.’ The ball still flew past me before I could move…
“He did it again, and it ripped through the back of the net and broke a window in the barracks where we were filming. I went ‘Are you kidding me?’ I found a new kind of respect.”
Stallone eventually started to properly listed to advice on set from England’s World Cup winning goalkeeper, Gordon Banks, and also accepted that he couldn’t actually score the winning goal (on top of the fact that in the film, the match is eventually a draw). Other behaviour, however, also angered the cast and crew.
The actor demanded that he was only called to set when a shot was ready to take, as he was busy writing the script for Rocky III. But when he also started to turn up late, Caine told him he too had important things to do elsewhere (he didn’t really) and would henceforth turn up whenever he liked. The point was made and Stallone was always on time.
The actor’s dedication to his role, however, was never in dispute. Despite the fact it was a film ostensibly about sport, he actually had to get ‘out of shape.’
Stallone shed weight to look more realistically like a prisoner of war, losing 40 pounds. He said: “My waist is down from 33 to 29 inches, I run every morning, I’m trying to look a little gaunt.”
He also admitted he had not signed on for the story or his reputed $1.8million payday, but rather because the film was being helmed by the legendary John Hughes.
Stallone said: “There are some directors you just almost automatically jump at the chance to work with.”
Huston, in his turn, later distanced himself from the film and said he only did it for the money!
Caine, meanwhile, was as bewildered as anyone else that he was offered the role of a supposed professional football player at the age 47. However, he revealed he only accepted the role for the chance to meet and work with Pele.
Unsurprisingly his football skills and general athletic prowess did not impress anyone, with Ardiles calling them: “Awful, and he couldn’t even run twenty yards.”
Stallone, battered and bruised by his experience later said
Working in this business, I’ve met some of the champions, and tried to figure out how they do it. Training for ‘Rocky,’ I boxed with Muhammad Ali. Learning how to play soccer…tomorrow morning, I’m gonna get lessons from Pele. What’s next? I need a little quiet. Maybe chess with Bobby Fischer.”

Sydney Sweeney hits back at horrific body shaming comments on viral pictures with incredible response

Sydney Sweeney has posted an Instagram video which included body shaming comments

Sydney Sweeney has hit back at horrific body shaming comments she’s received online with an incredible response.

For famous faces, social media can be an extremely toxic place, and it’s why we’ve seen some celebrities reduce their online presence as a result.

Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney has become the subject of body shaming comments in recent times, and she responded to these on Instagram in the best possible way.

The actor posted a shot clip that began with screenshots of a bunch of body shaming comments she’s received online, including some calling her ‘quite frumpy’, ‘very chunky’ and ‘tubby’.

Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell discuss chemistry
After many screenshots of horrible comments were shown on screen, the video cut to Sweeney in her training gear at the gym.

The video cut to a sign that said ‘hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard’ as Sweeney worked hard with a trainer, struck a punching bag and even flipped a large tire in what looked like an extremely intense workout.

Many have flocked to the comments section of the Instagram video to praise Sweeney for her response to the trolls.

“I will never understand the hate in people‘s hearts when it comes to leaving comments like this,” one person commented.

A second added: “Ngl why do people feel entitled to talk about someone’s body specially someone you don’t personally know,” while a third remarked: “No one has the right or reason to make comments on anyones body, ever.”

Meanwhile, Lili Reinhart penned: “It’s always wild to see people publicly out themselves as pieces of shit with comments like that. You look incredible and your dedication to your project is very inspiring.”

The video actually concluded with the name ‘Christy Martin’ being shown on the screen, which is a nod to Sweeney’s upcoming biopic where she plays a famed female boxer.

Boxing fans will likely know Martin is a is a former professional boxer who earned herself the WBC female super welterweight title in 2009.

Sweeney has spoken previously about her process of getting into her movie character, telling The Los Angeles Times in March that she’s a ‘very hands-on collaborator’.

“I like being able to give ideas, be a part of it, help come up with solutions. It just changes the whole process,” she said.

Sweeney continued: “It’s so hard for me now to be on a set and not be able to help in any type of way and be able to take action. And being able to actually have a voice and have a valued opinion—it means so much.”

‘Australia’s most sexually active woman’ reveals outrageous bedroom goal for 2025

A woman who has been dubbed the “most sexually active woman” in Australia has set her sights on a big goal for 2025.

You’ve probably heard of Bonnie Blue and Lily Phillips attempting to break outrageous records in the bedroom – and Annie Knight has now thrown her hat into the ring too.

“When I watched that clip of Lily crying and everyone was saying, ‘Oh my god, this poor girl,’ I just thought, well, she’s been getting railed all day by 100 different guys… imagine putting your body through that,” Knight told Metro.

“Yes, it’s emotionally taxing, but isn’t that like any job?” she added. “Everyone has moments where they’re like, ‘I don’t know if I can do this anymore.’ You do get really stressed. She’d be exhausted; her body would be exhausted. When you’re tired, your emotions are high.”

Knight also noted that some of the men involved in Phillips’ session were reportedly rude to her, emphasizing that dealing with negativity can be challenging in any profession.
